Nature-based solutions expert, Kristina Díaz Paterson, has joined Climate Impact Partners to lead its project sourcing work in North, Central, and South America.
Kristina led the development work on the first of its kind and largest afforestation carbon offset project in Mexico. She also supervised the Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) Certifications of plantations and timber processing facilities in Colombia, Costa Rica, Mexico, USA, and Vietnam which involved working closely with local communities to implement social impact programs. In addition to her work in project development and implementation, she authored a report on environmental and social compliance to improve the integrity of reporting processes for multinational institutions including FINNFUND, International Finance Corporation, Proparco and United Nation’s Global Compact.
Based in Mexico, Kristina has also been actively involved in shaping climate policies across the nation. She was Co-chair of the Mexican Alliance for Biodiversity and Business and as a member of the Climate Action Task Force, a public-private partnership lead by Office of the Presidency of Mexico, she contributed to policy reform to help Mexico make progress on its 2030 climate commitments.
“I am thrilled to work hand-in-hand with a global team of leading experts who understand the urgency for climate action,” says Kristina, Americas Sourcing Lead. “Having been on the ground developing carbon programs, I have witnessed the potential of nature-based solutions to become a catalyst of positive impact for local communities and their environment. I am enthused to be part of the solution for the enormous challenge we are facing in this decade and towards 2050 and I am certain I couldn’t be at a better place to make an impact.”
“Kristina’s expertise and breadth of experience developing carbon programs throughout Latin America will enable us to further expand our project portfolio across the region, to meet the growing demand we are seeing from both corporate clients and investors” says Paulina Rakowska, Director of Portfolio Management at Climate Impact Partners.
