Today, the UK Government launched its Voluntary carbon and nature markets: raising integrity consultation, building on the principles for Voluntary Carbon and Nature Market Integrity launched during COP29.
The consultation is open until 1 July 2025, Climate Impact Partners will be responding to this with our feedback and recommendations.
UK Government's Carbon Market Consultation Positive Step Towards a Net Zero Future, said Rob Stevens Director of Product Development
"This consultation is a positive step in recognising the crucial role of high-integrity carbon and nature projects in achieving global net-zero targets. Ensuring integrity across the market is paramount. The government's guidance and endorsement of the voluntary carbon market will be crucial in fostering the confidence companies need to channel finance to projects impacting climate, community, and biodiversity today, enabling them to make robust climate claims. With the urgency of the climate crisis intensifying ten years after the Paris Agreement, we look forward to contributing to a consultation that prioritises effective action on the ground."
